Things to check for when reading
hello friends! in this video i explain (in depth) how and why we format the sermon pages in certain ways. (oh no. its the strict GUIDE revived... ok not quite.) please bear with us as we work out the kinks of this new church website 😬. again, here are timestamps for convenience:
INTRO
00:00 the website is live! – https://bethelbpc.super.site/
00:46 notion preamble
01:22 reminder about using templates
01:56 pages are full-width
BIBLE PASSAGE FORMATTING
02:12 bible passages: superscripts + new lines vs chunking
SPACING
04:35 extra empty block/line between paragraphs and before headings
05:35 a note on Notion, BLOCKS and COLUMNS + empty block after the transcript, within the same column, not outside the column + sermon outline is now in the right column, next to the transcript
New properties: CHAPTER and VERSE NUMBER
11:17 no longer select a 'series', instead, immediately underneath the scripture text, please input the chapter and verse number as separate properties. + explanation of how and why this works
OCCASION
15:35 new options for 'occasion' property to keep in mind. 'miscellaneous' sermons are now more uncommon. please use the other occasions
THEMES
16:52 this is just a heads up that the website team will finalise (an expanding) list of themes to label sermons with. please let us know if you think of any relevant themes!

OUTRO - 18:30
- Check Scripture quotations are accurate.
- Misheard words: YouTube rarely makes mistakes, but it does happen.
- Grammar: We’ll exercise our best judgement to correct anything we think can be easily corrected for clarity’s sake. (Note: you can use Grammarly to speed this step up.)
- Line (paragraph) breaks: Check their location makes sense, and that paragraphs aren’t overly short.
- Add em dashes (–) where appropriate (throughout sermon, especially in Scripture quotes where Pastor interrupts himself to explain the meaning of a phrase or word).
- Change American spellings to Australian (British) spelling.
