“…we will realise that only love is eternal…”
1 Corinthians 13:13, And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Why is love the greatest?
It is eternal — Faith and hope are very important virtues. But one day, when we get to heaven, whether by death or rapture, we will realise that only love is eternal. In heaven, we do not need to keep on believing because everything true will be known. In heaven, we do not need to keep on hoping because the reality of our hope will be realized, and we will be in our glorified state.
Love is the greatest of these three virtues - faith, hope and charity. In this world that we live in, everything we do, say or think will be meaningless…without love. If there is no love (including faith and hope) our actions will be empty. That is why we must continue to believe and hope in love. Without it, everything would be in vain. Thus, love is the greatest!
Dear children, one day all our spiritual gifts, ministries, faith, hope and patience will come to an end. Our love, however, will continue because even after we die and join our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in Heaven, there will still be love. There, we continue to love Him, and He will continue to love us. The only difference is that our love for Christ will then be perfect because there will be no more sin!
