Proverbs 28:7

“…uncontrolled, unruly and disorderly…”
Proverbs 28:7, Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
The word riotous means worthless, vile, tremble or quake. When it is used in reference to the behaviour of a person, it means he is uncontrolled, unruly and disorderly in the way he lives his life in sinful pleasure. Basically, he is wild! His desire is to eat, drink and be merry. He does not consider the consequences of his actions. He lives for the present with no consideration for the future. Like someone who is partying and drinking all day long, and spends all his money and time on sinful, immoral and even violent activities. He will not only bring troubles to himself, but his parents will be ashamed of him.
Dear children, a wise son is a reference to the believer who understands the Word of God, and is discerning. He knows that by associating with such riotous people, he will be influenced, get into trouble and bring shame to his parents. He will avoid the company of such people, and instead he keepeth the law meaning he obeys the Word of God which will guide and lead him on the path of righteousness. Is there anyone whom you know who is a riotous person? You must avoid associating with him or her otherwise the consequence may be very severe.
