1 Peter 2:9

“…the Christians may seem strange and weird…”
1 Peter 2:9, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
The dictionary would often define this word peculiar as strange or weird. But the biblical meaning is different; it means to possess something through a purchase. In the eyes of the world, the Christians may seem strange and weird, but in God’s perspective, we are special, a peculiar people, bought with a price, through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:20, For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Dear children, perhaps you have been named as someone who is strange in your school or amongst your classmates. But you must always bear in mind that as a believer, you belong to the Almighty God! It does not matter how people may regard us, but what is most important is that in God’s eyes, “You are a peculiar people! You have been bought by the precious blood of my only begotten Son, Jesus Christ!”
