Proverbs 9:6

“…they will cause you to sin…”
Proverbs 9:6, Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
Fools are those people who do not believe God nor fear Him (c.f. Psalm 14:1). Due to their unbelief, they live in spiritual darkness and follow the ways of sin and ungodliness. They do not understand and adhere to the Word of God, and live their lives with no sense of accountability to Him.
Dear children, when you befriend the fool, he or she will influence you to follow the ways of the world. They will say to you, “Come on, it is alright not to worship God on Sunday. Instead let us go shopping, partying, drinking and watching movies. Let us dress sensuously, be attractive and draw attention to ourselves.” Such people can offer you nothing but danger, because they will cause you to sin and draw further away from God and His Word.
The Bible emphatically commands us, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (2 Corinthians 6:14-15)
