Proverbs 16:24

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)
One day, you are sick and you are not able to attend school for a week. Mary, your classmate, hears that you are feeling sad and lonely, and she decides to visit and cheer you up. She said lovingly, “How are you? I missed you so much. Here is a “Get well” card that I personally drew for you. During your absence, I will collect all the class notes for you.” With such kind words and careful thoughts from Mary, will you not feel happier? Those are such pleasant words to hear and you will almost feel much better just by listening to them. They are sweet to your soul, and certainly health to your bones. You will be cheered up!
In olden times, honeycomb was very expensive because it was helpful to the health. Even today, it is still highly recommended for health benefits. Honey is not just useful but its sweetness is so tasty and appetizing. It is soothing and everyone enjoys it. The Bible tells us that if we speak words that are pleasant, they are like honeycomb. In other words, our pleasant words can be beneficial and satisfying, for they can revive the heart and soul.
Dear children, have you been speaking pleasant words to cheer the hearts of your parents and friends? When mummy and daddy are sick or have a hard day at work, have you ever said kind words to them? When your classmates and friends are sad and disappointed, have you ever encouraged them with words that will cheer their hearts? Many of your friends may not know the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you know that the most important words that will not only cheer their hearts, but also save their souls, are the blessed words of the Gospel? Let us tell them about the Gospel of our Saviour Jesus Christ!
