Exodus 20:4
~2 min read
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. (Exodus 20:4)
There is only one living and true God. He is the Creator who made us and He owns us. He is the Lord who has power over you and me. But fallen man because of sin, did not want to acknowledge, worship and honour God in the way he ought to. Instead of worshipping God, man worships idols.
God had taught us not to make any image or idol to represent Him. We are not to carve an idol in the shape of either a human being, or like any animals, or birds, or insects, or reptiles, etc. We must never sin by misrepresenting Him in any shape or form. There is nothing that man can make with his hands to show what God is like. God is a Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
