I am the LORD thy God which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3)
God saved the children of Israel and delivered them from the bondage of slavery in Egypt. He had proven Himself to be the only God by defeating all the gods of Egypt through the ten plagues. Therefore, the children of Israel must not worship any other gods except the Lord Almighty.
Dear children, Jesus has saved us through His death and the shedding of His precious blood on the cross of Calvary. Through His resurrection on the third day, Jesus has proven Himself not only victorious over sin and death, but He is also the only living and true God. We must not worship any other gods but the Lord Himself.
Today, many people may not worship physical idols, but sadly, they worship and idolize people like celebrities, or their material things like houses and cars, or even themselves when they live their lives solely for themselves with no consideration for God at all.
We must love and honour God above anyone or anything else. Jesus said…
… Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (Matthew 22:37)
