James 5:14-15
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him (James 5:14-15)
In those days, some of the believers were being persecuted, and as a result, they became sick and weak. They could have suffered physical injuries, and the afflicted believers should call for the elders of the church who were spiritually strong and mature. The elders would pray for them and rubbed medicated oil on the injured believers. Through the prayer of faith, they were strengthened.
Other believers had fallen in sin, and they should also call for the elders. They must confess their sins, repent and with prayers, they would be forgiven.
Dear children, this passage is about spiritual healing. Whenever we are sick, we may feel weak both physically and spiritually. We need to be strengthened. The way to be strengthened is through prayers. If we are too weak to pray on our own, we should call for those mature believers like the church leaders to help us to pray. Whenever we fall into sin, we need to be forgiven. Likewise, the way to be forgiven is through prayers. We must pray and only then, we can be restored spiritually!
With love in Christ,
