“…His kingdom, power and glory are forever, eternal and unchangeable…”

Jesus had taught us the Lord’s Prayer, and He ended with, For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen (Matthew 6:13b).

What does it mean to pray thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory?

  • Kingdom - We are acknowledging the kingship of God. We do not belong to the kingdom of this world, but the kingdom of God. As His children, we are concerned about His kingdom, and we want Him to be the King of our lives.
  • Power - We are acknowledging the power of God. Our God is all-powerful, and He alone knows what is best for us, and is able to answer our prayers.
  • Glory - We are acknowledging the glory of God, and want Him to get all the glory. When God answers our petitions in the Lord’s Prayer, we want to give Him all the credit.

His kingdom, power and glory are forever, eternal and unchangeable. And to that, we say, Amen, which means, truly, or let it be!

Dear children, is your prayer only about yourself? Does your prayer have anything to do with God’s kingdom, power and glory?
